The design of the neighborhood park located in the eastern suburban area of Addis Ababa has been attributed to RAAS architects, who have garnered recognition for their work. The project was initiated by the community as part of the local development plan, with the objective of establishing a green area and athletic field. The park’s master plan was meticulously followed, incorporating a community center with diverse functionalities, green spaces, and landscaping. Urban horticulture and agriculture are also promoted, with designated areas for indigenous planting. The park was designed as an eco-friendly neighborhood park, catering primarily to residents in close proximity without any physical or social barriers. It fosters a sense of community and belonging where individuals come together to share ideas and contribute to a sustainable landscape project, aimed at protecting the environment and mitigating global climate change. The park’s infrastructure will comprise locally sourced materials such as earth blocks, stonework, and bamboo.
