Located in one of the most active neighborhoods of Addis Ababa, ILRI is an international institute, which the abbreviation stands for International Livestock Research Institute. It is co-hosted by Ethiopia and Kenya. The major goal is to maintain, characterize, and enhance the use of the genebank’s diverse forage genetic resources in order to ensure food and nutritional security in developing countries.

 

It’s a building that consists gene bank, biosafety level 2 laboratories, and research offices on a 1123 sq meter building footprint. It also holds spaces like a library, freezer area, drying room, meeting room, and storage spaces. The building is thoughtfully blended to its environment. It also has an exterior cafeteria space.
